An unnamed American mother took to TikTok to share the anguish she felt over the turnout for her 5-year-old son's birthday party.
The bio section of her profile reads "special needs mama just trying to raise kind humans in an unkind world". Nosilla865 is the name she posts under and in the video, you can tell she is in real pain.
With tears streaming down her face, the heartbroken mather said: “This weekend we had a drive-by party for my son who turned five."
"Do you want to know how many people came? One. Normally this would be bad for any kids, but my son has Down's Syndrome."
The video has gone viral and has now been viewed more than 7 million times. Nosilla865 shot the video in black and white and shares that she had organized a drive-by birthday party for her son. She was hoping that friends could drive past their home and wish, Jude, her son, a happy birthday.
"My son has Down's syndrome and when he didn't realize what was going on that hurt, but what happens when he knows?
"What happens when he knows that he's being purposely left out? Why?"
The loving mother can then be seen breaking down into tears and turning the camera off.
Down’s syndrome is currently the most common chromosomal disorder in the world. However, “discrimination against people with Down syndrome, even in developed nations, is profound,” said Michelle Sie Whitten, Executive Director of Global Down Syndrome Foundation.
The video has received mostly positive comments from some 65.9K users, with people rallying to support her and her family.
"Wow! Thank you for all the kind words! I honestly don't know what
I’m doing with posting, but thank you for the love! I’ve felt it! ❤️
" captions the mom in a follow-up post.
Nosilla865 later posted a video of her son Jude, the birthday boy, enjoying ice cream. Hopefully, he will see the love that we all have for him!
